When you’re a stay at home mom (SAHM) and also a homeschooling mom, you are basically with your children 24/7. Literally from the moment they wake up until the moment they go to sleep the next day, they’re with you (since they’re also keeping you up all night).
I have heard more times than I can count “I don’t know how you do it” and to be honest, this was my choice and if I had to choose a million times I’d choose this life with my kids. As much as you may not believe it, I absolutely love spending time with them. I adore watching their personalities bloom and seeing the joy of life through their innocent eyes. They are so funny and gentle and empathic and kind, I am so lucky that this is the life I have to share with them. But I am human, and sometimes, with all the things I do all night and all day, and especially the days where they aren’t acting so kind, what’s missing is appreciation. I can almost guarantee any mother out there, homeschooling or not, could say the same.
Don’t get me wrong, as mentioned above, I chose this life, but, it’s nice to be recognized for it too. As moms, we desperately need and deserve breaks to refresh and rejuvenate ourselves so that we can continue to give our families all that we are every single day. Sometimes all we need to hear is a simple, you’re doing great, or, be told you really are amazing for all you’ve accomplished. Sometimes a little recognition is all we need on those days when there is no space for a break, to fill our souls and keep our spirits high.
My personal love language is words of affirmation, but I can almost guarantee that those of you reading this right now would feel more fulfilled, in this very moment, if someone told you how wonderful of a job you are doing. Life as a SAHM, a working mom, a homeschooling mom, or any kind of mom, is hard, and sometimes it feels almost impossible to get through the day. But no matter what happens, we do, and we do it again and again every single day.
So with that, I am here to tell you that you are amazing, I mean, look at you! You are raising incredible little human(s) and you are doing a great job. You should be proud of yourself for making it through another day, especially if it’s been a tough one, and you deserve to be loved and appreciated for everything you do for your family.
And I am here to tell you that you are enough, you are so so so enough, and you are so very appreciated.
